We all have heard about learning from our mistakes which we have committed in our pasts. But have you ever seen or even heard about people who learn through other’s mistake. Yes, they do it especially when it is about competition. A necessary strategy which is developed by closely analysing competitors suffering through certain problems. This is done in order to minimise future problems while walking through the path.
When there is high amount of competition, people do fall prey since they rush over decisions. And due to such quick decision making, they suffer in the long run. Everyone wants to win, but where is finish line? Have you ever seen the future than when you will die? Of course not and the more you walk on this path it will feel like never ending.
The main trigger are the competitors because if you stop at a point, they will move ahead. And that’s why we all have to keep moving. But do you know how much percentage of competitors are retained in the longer run? Hardly one percent of them are able to fight. But remember there is no finish line at all.
For example if you start a company, in order to increase its growth, you will require funding. Isn’t it? And that is why you will take the help of investors to invest it in your company and you will promise them a fix percentage of interest on the principal amount. Most of the people who fall prey over high percent returns never ever look at the reality.
If the competition is high and the product doesn’t satisfy the need of the customers, then how will the company grow in its long term? The main part is not about high returns but it is the mistake the company might make while creating a product. Even if the company promises their investors of higher returns, but what if the product fails to thrive? Some of the companies fail in the short term itself.
Some of them don’t even create a proper plan since they feel like rushing in the markets. All of the investment which is made by the public is never utilised in the right way because of less amount of experience. And what happens at last is that they fail to grow in the longer run. So why very few of them are able to grow? You might be thinking about the brand name.
Just like Nike and Puma who are desired brand for most of the consumers while purchasing shoes. But even they too had to start from scratch long time ago, especially when no one even knew about them. It’s tough on both the sides. And now even after the competition is increasing, but they are still able to grow.
The reason behind this is learning from the competitors. No one ever reveal their secret strategies, we all know but we can see where they are going wrong in their strategies. Since mistakes can be observed it is easy to realise our own improvements. And big firms apply this strategy to improve their services.
IMPROVEMENTS ARE POSSIBLE WHEN YOU LEARN FROM OTHERS MISTAKES
Even the toughest problems can be solved if you look where someone is going wrong. The most common mistake can easily be caught out because that is where everyone will fail. Suppose you are given a task to feed the entire year’s company report in the computer. You might use some software to do it, but the main task is feeding accurate information since it involves numbers.
It is a 365 page report which you have to feed in two working days. At last at the end of the second day you have finished it. In the next morning you have to submit the folder to your boss. And when you check the computer, you remember that you forgot to save the folder. The software doesn’t have any autosave feature. Then what, your boss threatens you for the same. That small mistake is observed by your colleague and he/she keeps that situation in mind.
And when the same work is handled to him/her, it is done smoothly keeping in mind to save the folder. It’s not only about big mistakes but even the minor ones can cause a great trouble for your future. But this doesn’t end up here. Just like your colleague learnt through your mistakes, you have to see where they are going wrong.
He/she might make a mistake which was thought to be small but then it creates a very big havoc. It causes the company a great amount of loss. Boss gets angry and gives suspension letter there itself. Actually, we never know that are those mistakes big or small because majority of them feel like a minor issue.
Improvements doesn’t only mean what you have learnt from your mistakes. You need to also look where others are going wrong because tomorrow there might be a situation where you need to recollect those past moments. Some people have a very bad habit of measuring the degree of mistake and poking their butts for the same. Such people love to gossip what others have done and never look what they need to learn.
YOUR FLAWS CAN NEVER BE CALLED AS MISTAKES
Okay, now people have a very important misconception between flaws and mistakes. They put these both of the terms in the same category because they think it as a problem. Flaws are generally defects which a person is blessed with. It can never be rejected since you know about it. Remember what is happening or repeating at every phase cannot be called as mistake.
A person is blessed with that value and it can only be changed if he/she is able to do it. Actions are necessary but as said these are blessed values. You can reduce it to a certain limit but it will never vanish away. For example the mentality of a person. He/she might think of changing the thought process because of complaints.
But he/she might not be able to completely change it forever. Negative thoughts can be reduced but it won’t vanish because at some part or stage it might immerse in our routine. Mistakes on the other hand can happen once a while. It might get repeated but not always. But remember that a mistake can convert into a flaw. This is because if it is repeated again and again then it will be marked as a defect.
Your flaws might get improved or not but never again repeat that mistake. Learning is an important process to success. If you meet its need you can save yourself from severe losses. Always remember.
